
Few people know that the building, which is No. 151 on the main Stefan cel Mare street, where today is the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Moldova is a unique architectural monument of history and culture with the status of national importance, was built in the early twentieth century.
This building was originally owned by famous photographer Alexander Volkenberg.The house kept its general look only on the outside, but the interior spaces were changed. Initially it was a "stone house with two floors and eight rooms, four on each floor, four storage rooms, two boudoir, two toilets, water supply, furnace heating." Nowadays the interiors of the building have a completely different structure. Neither the number of rooms, nor any other details does coincide with the previous building appearance. In addition to internal changes in 1960 to the building was built one wing. This outhouse was constructed for the needs of the vocational school of the Ministry of Light Industry, and it is good that the appearance and the main elements of the facade were not damaged or deformed.

The house consists of two levels and its front door opens to the central avenue. This architectural solution is typical for buildings built in Chisinau at the beginning of the twentieth century - in the spirit of the Art Nouveau style, with a composition characteristic of neoclassicism. The facade is asymmetrical, in its composition can be seen eight axes, the dominant factor of facade is balcony, it is framed by two columns of the Ionic order, stylized in Art Nouveau-style ....
