REF NR: 7454
  • 921
Hotel "Petersburg", is a two-storey building, with columns in the Corinthian style, it has also obtained the status of an architectural monument of national importance. This type of building is typical of Chisinau in 30 - years of the XIX century. Moreover, this hotel is the only building, which was built in the neoclassical style, that we can stand and contemplate today.

It is known that in 1907 the building belonged to the merchant Durdufi, and later, until 1940 the owner of it was the merchant and philanthropist Moses Kligman. Since 1940  again the construction again changed as did the owner as it became the private property of Puterman Peysach.

During the Second World War the building was damaged, but renovated in 1946 and all the decor elements were restored.

The ground floor of the building was a commercial one. Under the right side of the hotel there is a basement with an entrance coming from the street (closed after 1947).
