On the 11th  October 1949, this monument was established in front of the Government House in Central Square (today is the Grand National Meeting square) on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the SSSR?

The architects of the monument are V. Turchaninov and A. V. Shusev, and sculptor – S. Merkurov.

The monument is made of red granite from Urals. Inscription "Lenin" is installed on a high pedestal, and the figure of Vladimir Lenin like it rushes up. Lovely granite platform was built around the base of the monument, during the festivities it served as the government platform.

Due to the political changes in 1991 the monument was moved to the "Moldexpo" area - the territory of free economic zone.
