On March 8 all world celebrates International Women's Day, when are distinguished the achievements of women in social, economical and political fields. People commemorate the past, present and future of women in the world.
The holiday is celebrated by the U.N.O. and in the Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia this day a national holiday. In Copenhagen in 1910 was held the 2nd International Conference of working women. Clara Zetkin, the leader of the Social Democratic Party in Germany proposed to celebrate the International Women's Day. She pushed an idea that annually in every country on the same day all people will arrange a celebration in honour of womanhood. The purpose of this holiday was to struggle for women's rights.
Namely at the beginning of XX century there appeared this idea of such kind of holiday. It was at a time when the industrialized world was during the period of expansion and turbulence, at the beginning of a radical ideology and demographic boom. Said that at the origins of this holiday was the "march of empty pots" where took part the textile workers in New York, which was held on March 8, in 1857.
Women all over the world, on March 8, separated by state borders or political and economic, cultural, linguistic, ethnic differences can come together and recall a tradition which embodies a couple of decades of struggle for gender equality, development, peace and justice. In ancient Greece, Lysistrata organized a sexual strike against men in order to end the war. Parisian women during the French Revolution, which argued for "freedom, equality and brotherhood», caused the Versailles march, for the assignment of women’s suffrage. International Women's Day is a festivity of all women - the makers of historical events.
It is no wonder that women are pioneers in many ways. Here's some evidence of that: in January 1906 was opened the first higher technical educational institution for women in St. Petersburg; the world's first car race for women was held in 1909 in New York; female "Vivaldi Orchestra " made his debut in April 1989.
