The official opening ceremony of the pipeline "Iasi - Ungeni." At the opening was the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Iurie Leanca, Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, the EU Energy Commissioner - Guenther Oettinger, as well as other officials.

The total length of of the pipeline is 43.2 km , capacity is around 1.5 billion cubic meters.

"On September 1, the Romanian gas goes over the River Prut, initially in the first volume, thus providing an alternative source. We are talking about that in a year and a half, maximum - two, we will have a perfect system of interconnection, and then we can buy gas, either in the East or in the West - where conditions and prices are better for our country. Today in Romania energy is cheaper by about 40%. Two years later, I am convinced we will have and the interconnection of electricity, "said Iurie Leanca.

The total cost of this project - is 26 million EUR, 7 million of which - is a grant provided by the EU.
