The Ministry of Labour elaborated a draft decree, suggesting that people with hearing disabilities will have a right to have free services of interpreter. However, fewer than ten professionals are working now in this area. Thus they simply cannot cope with the large number of applications.

The sign language interpreters receive daily dozens of applications asking for their skilled help. Some patients find the way out, trying to communicate through notes.

Draft decree provides that translation services will be paid from the state budget -30 lei per hour.

The manager of Society of the Deaf, Natalia Babich, said: "In the Republic of Moldova there are no centers or departments that would prepare such specialists. Our interpreters are usually people of those families where the parents themselves suffer from hearing impairment".

In Moldova, there are more than three thousand people suffering from hearing impairment.
