Officials from Bavaria lodged a complaint to the federal government, which stated that they had no right to charge tolls. While in England, Switzerland they collect good money from foreigners transiting through these countries. Therefore, the German federal government has decided to introduce a road tax for foreigners. Minister of Transport of Germany said that the money raised will go to the maintenance and rehabilitation of infrastructure.
The new tax will be charged in 2016, according to preliminary estimates, to the budget will bring 2.5 billion euros.
