Timofti will fulfill its mandate to the inauguration of the newly elected president. Representatives of the Presidency did update after there were suggestions in the press of his intention to resign after the election that are held on 30 November.

In a statement, the president said that the early resignation of the head of state can cause political instability and harm the process of European integration. The president also calls on political forces and state institutions of the country to focus on creating the conditions for elections.

According to the Constitution - by the end of the term, in the case of the resignation or removal from office, death or incapacity, the presidency position becomes vacant. So, the president of Moldova is elected for four years, he takes office as from the date of taking the oath.
