Giving alms in Norway now could lead to a year in prison

Until February 15 the final decision on the bill should be approved. If the bill comes into force, then the people related to organized groups of beggars will receive a prison sentence, the same punishment will be given to those who help the homeless.

The Norwegian Government considered a bill under which people who provide panhandlers food, clothing, money and shelter may be sentenced up to 12 months.

Initially, the bill is worked out as part of the fight against organized groups of professional beggars, but its scope has been expanded.
