A campaign to prevent fires has launched in Moldova

Service of Civil Protection and Emergency Situations has launched "campaign to prevent fires in the residential sector" due to the fact that during the cold period of time cases of fire caused by faulty stoves are becoming more frequent.

Thus during the campaign the rescuers inform the public about the risks faced by the people themselves, not observing the rules of fire safety. Emergency staff will visit people’s houses and check the status of stoves and chimneys.

According to statistics, every year 15.3% of fires happen in rural homes, and 11.55% of fires due to faulty, home-made or left without surveillance heating systems. Over the past winter, there were 135 fires, which caused death to 13 people.

The campaign is being carried out all over the country, it will last until the end of winter. Firefighters urge people to take action if the heat source does not comply with the rules of fire safety.
