One of the local businessmen has decided to turn the cinema "Gaudeamus" in a shopping center. To implement the planned he appealed to the mayor's office for the permission, however found no support from the city officials.

So Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca criticized the project and demanded a written explanation from the authors, recalling that in the territory of the theater there are graves of mayor Schmidt and architect Bernardazzi.

In turn, the director of "Gaudeamus" said the owner has the right to decide what to do with the building, owned by him.
