Moldova is home to about 2,020 veterans of the Second World War

According to the Ministry of Defence in Moldova there are more than 2000 veterans of the Second World War. This figure is half less than a year earlier. Most of them live in Chisinau.

Today, the authorities will give financial compensation to those who passed the military battles of those years.

More than 500 veterans and about 900 widows will receive benefits.

About a quarter million of Moldovans participated in the battles of the war and were in the rows of the Red Army. Almost 70 thousand of them left on the battlefield. More than 7 thousand served in the lines of the Romanian army, of which 350 people died.
