Villagers of Cobani, Glodeni district, decided to return to the former name of the village - "Cubani". Local authorities have already initiated the procedure for the returning of the historical name of the village, by directing such request to the central authorities.

The original name of the village, situated on the banks of the Prut River, originates from the Moldovan "cu bani", which means "with money".

Its present name “Cobani” the village received in 1947, during the Soviet period.

At this point in the village there are more than two thousand six hundred people.
