At the first world championship in powerlifting in Chisinau, Moldovan athletes have won most medals. Total the competition was attended by athletes from 14 countries.

Moldovan President of Powerlifting Federation Boris Volosatyi, said: "We have the right to ask to organize European or world competitions in the Republic of Moldova in the coming year or in subsequent years."

Powerlifting is a sports discipline where contestants compete in weight lifting.
