Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova was under the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova “On science and innovation sphere’s infrastructure optimization measures” nr. 1326 of 14 December 2005 by uniting National Institute of Ecology of Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Institute of Geography of ASM.

The main research areas of the Institute are:

  • Dynamics and evolution of natural and anthropogenic geo- and ecosystems in regional, local and trans-boundary levels;
  • Elaboration of Geographical Informational system of environment and natural resources;
  • Integral monitoring of environment and ecological restoration.
