
Every year in November, the Orthodox celebrate the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel. People call this holiday is "Holy Archangels."
According to scripture Archangels are close to Lord in the Highest, they inform people about all the mysteries of God, open all the prophecies to the angels and through them people multiply the holy faith and illuminate their way to the Holy Gospel.
On Saturday before the holiday commemorated the dead. In the church, people light candles so that they light the way in the other world.
In Holy Scripture says that Archangel Michael, whose name means "Who is like God”, is the leader of the Heavenly Hosts. He wears a fiery sword and his mission is to protect all of God's laws, and defeat the enemy.
Archangel is represented in many stories and beliefs. One of the most common beliefs is about the Archangel Michael with the Archangel Gabriel, being the most important among the angels, guarding people life, and at the end, in their last hour, Archangel take away people soul. Once they hold the soul of the deceased with respect to all places of life, the Archangel Michael leads the dead souls on the bench in front of God, the solution of which depends on where the soul will get to heaven or hell.
Archangel Gabriel, whose name means "God - man" is a messenger of glad news and jo , his mission – is to bring to people all divine mysteries. In contrast to the Archangel Michael, he is not with the fiery sword, but with white lily of joy. That he was sent by God to the Mother of God from Nazareth, to notify the mystery of Christ's birth.
Archangel Gabriel protects virgins, protects mothers, babies, performs all requests of the Orthodox with God's help.
Orthodox Moldovans honour and respect the name of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel. In Moldova, the two saints are much esteemed, in their honour are named many Orthodox churches.
