World Teachers 'Day in Moldova

«Всемирный день учителя» (World Teachers' Day) в Молдове

On 5th October is annually celebrated the "World Teachers 'Day” which was established by UNESCO in 1994.

Prerequisite for the establishment of this holiday was the Special Intergovernmental Conference on the Status of Teachers held on 5th October, in 1966 in Paris. The conference led to the signing of the agreement indicating the status of teachers “Recommendation is concerning the Status of Teachers” between UNESCO and the International Labour Organization. So, on that date was celebrated for the first time the "World Teachers' Day."

This is the professional holiday of all teachers, lecturers, professors and educators. This day is established to draw attention to the status of teachers in our society, their role in the quality of education, as well as their invaluable contribution into the overall development.

This day is included into the system of world and international UN days.

The main subject matter of this celebration always remains the situation with the deficiency of  teachers, clearance in order to the improve of the quality of education and the role of teachers in educating the responsible citizens of the world.

Organizations - partners supporting the UNESCO's in the celebration of "World Teachers' Day", appeal to organize various interesting events in different parts of the globe, so that this day obtains truly international significance.
