
More than 28 million lei, according to the program is provided for the transplantation of organs and tissues. Two million lei is planned for preventive treatment of people with multiple organ failure, insufficiency and immunosuppressive issues. There is also a sum set aside for the purchase of new equipment to assist with these operations.
In 2015, the Ministry of Health is planning to carry out 10 kidney, 50 cornea and 15 liver transplants. Additionally to this there is also a plan for 20 skin and nerve transplants 135 bone marrow and 5 tendons.
Kidney transplants cost around 400 thousand lei, liver around a million. The tissue bank spends on the intake and storage of corneas around 12,000 lei. The actual cost of the operation can be up to 6,000 lei. Today there are 41 people in line for a kidney transplant, 52 for a liver 52, and 50 patients waiting for cornea operations.
