Lightning that hits up is recorded on video

Scientists from Florida captured lightning that hits up. Scientists caught on camera a rare form of electrical discharge, which goes not down but up.

"Inverse" lightning noticed near the town of Dorian in Florida in August of 2013. All lightnings, interestingly, were from the same cloud.

Typically, such electrical discharges are divided into three groups depending on their peak height.

The smallest ones are with a height of 20 to 30 km. Next comes the type of lightning with a height of 40 to 50 km, the highest - from 70 to 90 km. All three types are seen in the same region.
