Taraclia district will be the first country in the region, received the status of national and cultural. Parliament passed a bill on amendments to the Law of the Republic of Moldova on the administrative-territorial system.

Taraclia district was among the first to repeatedly applied for this special status. The area is home to more than 44 thousand people, most of them - Bulgarians.
