The EU will pay 50% of the fee that Moldova has to pay for their participation in the program for research and innovation, named "Horizon 2020". Today the head of the EU Delegation in Chisinau Pirkko Tapiola and the president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova Gheorghe Duca signed a corresponding agreement.

The European Union will provide Moldova with 445 thousand euros to pay fee for participation in the program. Pirkko Tapiola said that this agreement will open new opportunities for cooperation of Moldova and the EU.

Tapiola noted that the project "Horizon 2020" will strengthen the Moldovan-EU relations and open new opportunities for development. The most important thing of this project - it consists in attractive ideas and quality of goods.

The program "Horizon 2020" is designed for researchers from EU Member states, it provides a variety of financing of the innovations projects. Gheorghii Duca said that 300 of projects that are provided by the scientific community of the Republic of Moldova - 58 of them are accepted.

The program's budget is about 80 billion euros.
