At home in the village of Dumitru Matcovschi called Vadul-Rascov, Sholdenesti district there will be a monument to the poet. The Government took the decision on Wednesday. The monument will be installed not far away from the house of culture at the expense of sponsors and donations. Reserve fund of the government will allocate 350 lei for landscaping around the monument.

Matcovschi obtained international fame as a literary critic; he is the author of over 50 books of poetry, plays and prose. He was a symbol of national revival of Bessarabia. 2014 was declared Year of Dumitru Matkowski in Moldova. The poet was born in 1939 and died on October 20 last year in Chisinau.
